5Insaine power
By Max Power
I have a 10amp-DeWalt angle grinder and this 15amp-Milwaukee one. The DeWalt I got new, the 15amp milwaukee I got heavily used from a pawn shop. Aside from them the only other angle grinder I've used is a battery powered Ryobi. I am a tool fanatic though, and in my house-remodeling pastime I like to use the biggest baddest toys. This one one of those toy purchases for me. I didn't really NEED a 15amp angle grinder. A 10amp would be able to handle anything in regards to home remodeling, from cutting tile to cutting cast iron pipe. The angle grinder is a tool I have neglected to buy for a long time, and I'm not sure why because they have so many great uses. They can cut through copper and cast iron pipe like butter.. and even concrete. If you do a lot of cutting through concrete slab though I would recommend a larger gas powered saw, but if you just want to use up a blade or two cutting, this tool would fit the bill. The dewalt uses smaller blades, is much lighter, and has less power - in comparison. The dewalt has plenty of power for what I do like I said, it can still cut through metal and concrete. But the milwaukee has power to spare for everything except cutting huge swaths of concrete, and even then it can manage, just a bit slower. The ryobi isn't worth mentioning. With an angle grinder you can grind out rotting mortar from between bricks and put in fresh. You can grind out crumbling concrete and put in good. You can sharpen tools by putting them in a vice and grinding. You can knock old enamel off metal with a wire brush, or metal burrs from cutting or welding. You can use a backing pad and use it as a super high power sander/polisher. There are tons of uses.I used the 15amp milwaukee today to grind out beat up concrete skirting that was cracking away from concrete steps so I could squish some sealant in the crack. Concrete dust went shooting off in the direction the grinder was spinning, and I dug it in 1/4" just by gliding it along the surface. I sharpened 30 rusty cold chisels I got from a pawnshop for $0.50 each. I got my money out of it right there. I cut the tips of nails off a 5' lean-to roof in my garage so I wouldn't hit my head on them. I polished all the dirt off my shovel/sledge/pick with a wire wheel so they wouldn't rust, and cut a line through a concrete slab in my front yard so I could put irrigation pipe under it.A diamond saw, buffer, sander, wire wheel etc can add up depending on what you want to use the tool for, but I'd expect to pay another $100 if you want to use it for everything I've mentioned. I wouldn't bother cutting wood with a grinder, use a circular saw, jigsaw, router, belt sander, orbital for wood. The sander on this is more for metal, it's so aggressive it would rip up even the hardest oak, so don't think you can skip on getting an orbital if you get a rubber backing pad for this.As far as the quality and how this tool specifically handles, this is a heavy tool. About 15-20 pounds. When you turn it on, it speeds up almost instantly, and it's scary powerful, dangerously so. It has as much power as a coorded power tool can have. You will not be able to find a more powerful coorded grinder. If you want something more powerful you'd have to go to gas powered like I said. If you put a 9" blade on this, you can cut through concrete slabs easy. I would recommend wearing safety goggles, safety gloves, a dusk mask, and ear plugs. I would also recommend reading the instruction manual so you know how to correctly fasten the blade, and position the deflection shield. If a wire came loose from a wire brush and the deflection shield was not there, and you weren't wearing safety goggles, you could easily get gouged, I can just picture the fingers flying on some first-timer who thinks they need to use something like this in their hobby shop.If there's one heavy duty tool that every home owner could find a use for, an angle grinder is probably it. Everyone needs to do concrete repair/modification eventually. And a single cut through a slab pays for the tool.

5A great grinder
By HS
I've used angle grinders for quite a few years and I think that this grinder is as good a grinder as I've ever used. It's side handle is angled just right so it's comforatble to use. Its quieter than the others I've used too. In fact it's not really any louder that a lot of 41/2" grinders I've used. It came with a 7" disk and has the capability and more than enough power to handle a 9" as well. It doesn't have a detachable cord and I prefer that. In fact it doesn't have any frills, ie detachable cord, adjustable handle etc. It has what I need the most, power as well as comfort! It does however, come with a guard for a 9" disk and a wrench and associated hardware to handle sanding discs as well. I haven't used the trigger lock yet but the trigger is easy enough to hold down I don't know why a person would need to use it. I've had a 41/2" grinder by Milwakee for several years so I had complete confidence in the name.I'd highly recomend the 6088-30 angle grinder to anybody.

5Milwaukee 6088
By Premier
I've purchased tools for the last 35 years. I've learned from experience that you should not buy the cheap imitation knock offs. I have a failed masterforce hammer drill from menards, a failed switch on a chicago reciprocating saw, a failed armature on an tool shop angled grinder from menards. However, all of my Milwaukee, DeWalt, Porter-Cable and Rigid tools are running like new after several years of construction work. This Milwaukee grinder is great.
