The Arbortech Woodcarver is a versatile attachment which fits most 4 and 4 and a half inch angle grinders. Some makes and models require an adaptor, please specify grinder make and model when ordering. To use the Arbortech Woodcarver, the angle grinder must have the following: a guard that can be rotated and adjusted to 45 degrees , an auxiliary handle, an on/off switch positioned on the top or side, and at least 500 watts power. The Woodcarver should be used with the Arbortech Pro-Guard.

I had been using chisels to remove material from a piece of dry fruitwood to make a table base and spent hours doing it. Then I bought one of these and within about two hours I was able to finish the removal and then was able to switch to sanding for shaping and polishing. It is a powerful cutter and hopefully the tungsten will remain sharp for a while. I am now going to buy the Arbortech mini grinder adapter for an angle grinder as the next piece I am going to do has more details that will require finer work. This is a great tool, in spite of being rather expensive. I got the whole kit with the protector, since it was only $5. more than just the blade where I bought it, but soon removed it as it gets totally in the way. One needs to be careful because chips come off fast and can hit one's hands and eyes. After a while you get the hang of what position you can use and avoid chips in the face.

I'm not totally satisfied with the woodcaver tool. It is too aggressive for my use & taste. It is less aggressive than the chain saw type discs I have tried, but still aggessive & grabby (dangerous). I like the tooth design, but would think, as on a chain saw chain, the "depth guage" could be modified to lessen the depth of cut. The guy I learned about the woodcarver from likes his. I think his work is not as craftsmanship oriented as mine. He is also about 1/3 my age.
