I used to manage a large metal fabrication shop and we carefully recorded the reliability of our tools. Over the years, we purchased medium and large electric angle grinders from every major manufacturer - Metabo grinders outlasted them all by a comfortable margin. The W8 combines a well sealed, high torque motor with the most durable gear and clutch assemblies on the market, guaranteeing years of service. The W8 is very well balanced and easy to control - only the Makita is more maneuverable. I have a moderately large hand span and appreciate the wider handle - although I admittedly prefer the ergonomics of the Milwaukee handle design. If you work in a trade where you might drop your grinder a lot, Milwaukee and DeWalt have a more impact resistant handle - although the Metabo handle is still very solid. Good balance and thoughtful design combined with industry leading durability - Metabo tools carry a premium price tag, but their reliability makes them worth every penny.

Important thing first, this is not a quick change model despite what the description on amazon says.I used it for the first time with the free promo blade and it works great,very little vibrations and plenty powerful.But it is big, way bigger than my old Milwaukee grinder.I need to get used to the on and off switch, which seems to be designed to work only so it can be only used when you hold the grinder in a certain way, might be just me and/or it is a safety feature.Turning the wheel guard is not very easy and its even harder to remove it compared to my old grinder.The box is very thin, flexes a lot when open, will see how that holds up.But I would have preferred a more sturdy case.This grinder is made in Germany.

Pretty good grinder. I don't like grinders without rear handles but I knew that going in. I have had several name brand small grinders but I like this the best. It is nice and smooth as long as you use quality wheels. The switch is unhandy with gloves on.
