Weekend Handyman Tool

I got this for a flooring project where I needed to grind down high spots and cut already laid tile. The tool performed well and was a good price (I got mine for $30), the diamond blade for tile almost cost more than the tool. I agree with another reviewer the switch is an awkward location and seems faulty in that it is very difficult to turn off, which is dangerous with this kind of tool. The button to lock the blade for removal also is a little finickity. Aside from those two ergonomic issues, I would recommend it if you are looking for a grinder to use occasionally for projects and sharpening the mower. I think Ryobi in general is good in providing functional tools for the occasional handyman at a decent price. I give 4 stars for function and price, and not 5 due to the switch issue.

Time Saver

This grinder has saved me a lot of time. I use it for cutting areas where my regular-sized circular saw is awkward to use. I have had trouble sourcing 4-1/2" x 20mm (7/8") blades though.

Worked fine for a while, not worth the price

I bought this to replace a $10 special Harbor Freight angle grinder I had been using for masonry and metal work. I have only used the Ryobi moderately, and one of the motor brushes broke off. The grinder did not come with extra brushes, and replacement ones of the correct type are over $10, not to mention the down time waiting to get this shipped. The cheapo Harbor Freight one it replaced at least came with extra brushes. Anyway, due to a tiny part that broke, the Ryobi is now junk. In the end, I got half as much use out of the more expensive Ryobi compared to the Harbor Freight one. I probably will not buy any more Ryobi products.
